    Pretenders Review

Chrissie Hynde will always be one of my heroes.  After thirty years of rock and roll, this beautiful woman has remained steady, strong and stoic as a rock and roll icon.  There is absolutely nothing pretentious nor shocking about The Pretenders….the music is pure, and it sounds just as great as it did eons ago.

This Hall of Fame group has been thru the wringer over the years, but has always come out with their heads held high and true to their music.  And they gave the crowd everything they wanted.  It was hit after hit, and we all sang along, danced along and got along.

In all my concert experiences at Stir, it is rare to see the entire crowd stand throughout a show, but by golly, only about 11.2% of the audience remained seated, or maybe they were just taking a break after dancing the night away.  It was fabulous.  The majority of the crowd hung out in front of the stage, and they all showed their appreciation in bold and rapturous applause.  After about an hour and a half, the band tried to end the night, only to come back for a 3 song encore, which still left us all aching for more.

I couldn’t wait to get back to my car so I could put a CD in and Pretend……
