Men- if you weren’t at Stir on Thursday night, you missed the opportunity of a lifetime. There they were…ladies of all ages, sizes, shapes and personalities. It could have been your Nirvana.
And we all gathered to witness the power of Heart. They say that wine gets better with age, and I’m telling you so do the Wilson sisters. Vocals were clear, crisp, strong and soulful and the band was outstanding. The show started with a resounding version of Barracuda and just kept climbing the mountain from then on. It was a magical hour and a half of reliving the joy of Heart as if hearing it for the first time. Crazy on You, Magic Man, Never…those hits and many, many more were just as fulfilling as they were on my cassette recorder 30 years ago. The ladies were brilliant…all of them, on stage and off. It was girls’ night out at its finest. And this is the first time I can remember an entire audience standing for the band, for the music, for the bliss. We sang along, we danced, we dreamt and we embraced every word and every note.
The Wilson sisters have been a strong presence in the Seattle music industry, which is where their roots are founded. They are credited with influencing such bands as Alice in Chains, REM, Pearl Jam and a visitor to the Whiskey Roadhouse just a few weeks ago..Candlebox. It’s easy to understand why. These ladies are smart, sassy, and so talented that I can’t find enough adjectives to describe the night. I could have listened for hours more, and I think every lady in the crowd would agree with me.
I love when a night is so right.
