Michael Forsberg is a conservation photographer focusing on the wildlife and landscapes of the Great Plains. His latest publishing venture, Great Plains: America's Lingering Wild (University of Chicago Press), will be available in September. An exhibition of work featured in the book is scheduled to open at the Museum in February 2010.

Less than 200 years ago, the Great Plains of North America ranked among the greatest grasslands ecosystems on earth. Today, this fragmented landscape is the most endangered and least protected ecosystem on the continent. Forsberg's book helps lead the way forward, inspiring readers to recognize, recapture, and reclaim the wild spirit of these great irreplaceable plains.
