    Cheech & Chong Review

Bundled in blankets and ‘primed’ for the night, a near capacity crowd assembled at Stir on Thursday night to relive the bawdy humor and irreverent comedy of Cheech  & Chong.  I think most of the crowd remembered the 70’s well, when our parents forbid us to listen to those LP’s that made this duo so famous.

It was all there once again.  The overt vulgarities, the sexual connotations, the ethnic slurs and ‘mind enhancement’ references.  The crowd loved it.  They may have been shivering in their workboots, but they were laughing out loud and roaring to the cast of characters paraded on the stage.  They sang loudly and proudly to “Up in Smoke” and guffawed and gasped at the variety of comedic dialogue and musical reverie.  It was predictable and entertaining.

These gentlemen can still make us blush, make us laugh and it was a great hour and a half of reliving those adolescent years….or maybe we just don’t want to grow up either.
